Yogaspace has offered 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training programs, annually, for well over a decade. A Yoga Alliance Registered School and a Federal Government of Canada Private Educational Institute, graduates of our program receive Yoga Alliance Certification, allowing them to teach anywhere in the world. All tuition and educational books are tax deductible.
We offer two Teacher Training program options annually and take a maximum of 25 students into each. (A five week Summer Intensive and a four month Fall/Winter Program). Both programs include a 7 month complimentary pass to all drop in classes.

The scheduling of our programs allows for a healthy, relaxed learning process, structured to meet the unique needs of individuals.

Both programs are suitable, for students who wish to become Yoga teachers, or for those who wish, simply, to deepen their Yoga practice.

Our senior faculty members are recognized for their extensive contributions to the Toronto Yoga community over the past twenty years. They are eager students and educators of Yoga, interested in sharing their knowledge and experience. They are always accessible and the larger Yogaspace teaching team serve as student mentors.

The environment at Yogaspace is supportive, inclusive and freindly. We offer in-depth training in Hatha, Vinyasa and Therapeutic Yoga. We respect the tradition of Yoga and acknowledge contemporary influences on the practice.

Our approach is therapeutic and our emphasis is on function in relation to the individual rather than on aesthetics. We are interested in using the poses to explore the body rather than using the body to attain the perfect pose.

Teaching Yoga, is a Yoga in and of itself. Effective teaching skills are developed by a strong training in the fundamentals of teaching Yoga, followed by the experience that can only be attained through the practice of teaching, itself. Every teacher knows this. Year after year, we witness the beginning of serious learning, when trainees become engaged in their teaching practicum.

The overwhelming success of our program lies in:

  • Our ability to provide a schedule that allows for a relaxed, healthy learning environment. (There are 3 Yoga studio’s at our centre).
  • Experienced, knowledgeable senior teachers with over 50 years teaching experience between them and well over a decade of experience, specifically, in training Yoga teachers.
  • An extensive public teaching practicum where students develop both skills and confidence in a supportive environment.
  • Limited enrolment allowing for individual attention and ongoing contact and email support with primary teachers.

In accordance with Yoga Alliance Standards, our contact hours cover:

  • Techniques. Training, Practice and Practicum 105 hours
  • Teaching Methodology 30 hours
  • Anatomy and Physiology 20 hours
  • Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle, Ethics for Yoga Teachers 30 hours
  • (Homework and teaching practicum exceed 15 non contact hours)

Above and beyond Yoga Alliance standards, our program offers the following:

  • 7 month unlimited drop-in class pass (10 classes each of Kathryn’s and Patricia’s are compulsory and include homework)
  • Option to teach for 3 months on the Yogaspace drop-in schedule and receive feedback on teaching
  • Ongoing contact and e-mail support with primary teachers
