Philip V. Starkman on the Four Noble Truths
The Four Noble Truths is one of the Buddha's core teachings and a foundational element of Buddhist thought. In this video, Philip V. Starkman provides an overview of the Four Noble Truths along with commentary on how they are applied to everyday life for the cultivation of inner peace and happiness.
Philip is a long-time meditation teacher, psychotherapist and founder of Spring Rain Sangha, a Toronto-based meditation group. Although the Four Noble Truths has been the subject of countless talks and commentaries over the years, Philip brings a fresh, modern and humorous perspective to this age old wisdom.
Philip has been studying meditation for over 40 years, which includes 12 years training in Asia. He also maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Toronto. In 2000, he founded Spring Rain Sangha, a mindfulness meditation group in downtown Toronto, with which he now shares teaching responsibilities with Jim Bedard.
At the foundation of the Buddha's teachings sits the Four Noble Truths, expertly delivered by the Buddha as the cause, diagnosis and treatment of human suffering. Anyone getting started with Buddist studies is well advised to develop a deeper understanding of this core teaching.
